Zwei die gute Laune machen.
Der Kanadier McBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco und der Niederländer Tim van Berkestijn. Man kennt sie eher unter ihren Künstlernamen: Mac DeMarco und Benny Sings. Mit Rolled Up hören wir heute den 3. neuen Song den Benny Sings in diesem Jahr über Stones Throw droppte. Die weichen und sanften Dream-Pop Vocals der Beiden, lullen einen in eine rosa Wolke aus Zuckerwatte ein und tragen angenehm durch den Tag.
Dennoch ist ein druckvoller Groove hinter dem neuen Track zu spüren, welcher sich im Video manifestiert. Da ist die Betrachtung eines zerbrochenen Eies, während man an einem Brandy nippt, das Wippen im Swimmingpool, während man vollständig bekleidet ist, und der Tanz als Zugabe. Das Video wurde in Bennys und Macs jeweiligen Heimatstädten Amsterdam und L.A. gedreht, wobei Bear Damen die Dreharbeiten in L.A. aufgrund der Reisebeschränkungen während der Pandemie von Amsterdam aus leitete.
Wie immer ein wenig crazy, aber total stimmungsvoll.
The song is about being in the dumps without a particular reason. things can be pretty good, but still you feel like shit. Sometimes leaving it all can be a cure. We wrote this together last year in Mac’s studio. I think Mac went out to get some coffee, and he heard someone use the phrase ‘rolled up, tossed out,’ talking about a cigarette. So that was the start of it. It felt pretty effortless, I think we both come from the same place songwriting-wise. Was a dream to work with him. A true artist.
