How long have you been photografing and what was your first picture ?
Ever since I can remember, I got a 110 (mini film camera) from a box of cereal when I was about 3 or 4 yrs old. The first pictures that I remember were probably of the cat running away from me.
What kind of picture do you like most ?
Its hard to generalise as it could be something super polished and hyper real or something very gritty and representative… big into Daido Moriyama at the moment, he is pretty brash.
Which idols do you have?
Irving Penn, Thomas Demand, Mitch Feinberg, Dan Tobin Smith all legends breaking boundaries in still life photography.
What was your biggest success so far ?
In terms of not really knowing how people were going to react to the project, probably POP POP BANG, it's been 18months in the making (a labour of love, with everyone giving up days at a time to stand in the cold, in the middle of no-where for free takes some organising) and the reaction so far… after a few days has been astonishing!
What are your next plans?
We are showing POP POP BANG at creative agency Mother in London, Anna Burns did some amazing installations to go with the print and film stuff we'd already made ( http://thomasbrownstudio.tumblr.com/post/35117506772/pop-pop-bang-preview-night-at-mother-london ) so we'd like to take the show to somewhere else…. Germany??? NYC???
Do you know Germany ?
I love Germany, I've visited Berlin the most 3-4 time recently…. i had my birthday (30th shhhh) out there with 22 friends from London it was crazy, the music and clubs are the best.
