You’re The Man | Das 'Lost' Album der Soul Legende Marvin Gaye wird Ende März veröffentlicht

Neues Album einer Legende im Anmarsch  

Das Album "You're The Man", von der Soul Legende Marvin Gaye, sollte die Fortsetzung seiner bahnbrechenden Veröffentlichung "What's Going On" von 1971 sein.
Doch dieses Album wurde bisher nie veröffentlicht und galt als "Lost Album" des Künstlers. Die meisten Songs des "neuen" Albums wurden verstreut auf verschiedenen CD-Compilations veröffentlicht, jedoch nie als komplettes Album Projekt und vor allem nicht auf Vinyl. 

Das ändert sich nun am 29.03.2019. Kurz vor Marvin Gayes Geburtstag (er wäre am 2.4.2019 - 80 Jahre alt geworden, hätte sein Vater ihn nicht am 01.04.1984 mit einer Smith & Wesson in die Brust geschossen).

You’re The Man is the first-ever planned “lost” Tamla/Motown album from Marvin Gaye. Fifteen (15) of the album’s 17 tracks are on vinyl for the first time and three tracks are newly mixed by SaLaAM ReMi. The album also includes the rare long LP version of Marvin Gaye’s cancelled Christmas single from ’72, as well as an unreleased vault mix of its instrumental B-side, and new essay by Marvin’s biographer, David Ritz. The release will coincide with the 60th anniversary of Motown as a label and also Marvin Gaye’s 80th Birthday (April 2).

Begleitet wird die Ankündigung der Veröffentlichung des Albums von einer neuen Abmischung des Songs "My Last Chance". Ursprünglich um 1972 aufgenommen und als "I Love You Secretly" für das 1973er Album Renaissance von The Miracles, wurde "My Last Chance" durch den Produzenten Salaam Remi überarbeitet und neues Leben eingehaucht.

Remi, der u.a. für Nas und die verstorbene Amy Winehouse produzierte, steuerte auch zwei weitere Mixe für das Album bei. So können wir uns auf "Symphony" und "I'd Give My Life for You" freuen. 

You're The Man kann man nun digital und als Doppelvinyl-LP vorbestellen. Gesagt, getan.
